Economic mission of Italy in Sochi - 2010
October 6, 2010 the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sochi City provided "Economic Mission of Italy to the Sochi City". Visit of the Italian businessmen was organized by CCI of Sochi City and the Moscow agency of the Italian Institute of Foreign Trade (ICE).

15 leading Italian companies operating in the sphere of finishing materials and materials for building spent three days in Sochi City, from 5 till October, 7. Companies represented Abruzzo, Marche and Veneto regions. In framework of this Mission 81 Sochi company had opportunity to attend business meetings with Italian partners.
Italian delegation also included ICE representatives:
Mateo Mazzini, Deputy Director of Moscow agency of ICE;
Andrei Nikolayev, Senior Expert of ICE.
The Visit schedule provided not only business meetings but sightseeing tour, tour around Olympic facilities under construction in Krasnaya Polyana and meetings with officials of Sochi City Administration.

First day, October, 5, Italian guests visited Krasnaya Polyana where they could see the process of preparation for XXII Winter Olympic games. In total they visited 5 Olympic objects:
Gornaya karusel
The Gornaya karusel complex conforms to the most exacting standards of quality and comfort. In addition to ski facilities, the project allows for all types of services to be provided in accordance with the latest requirements of the hospitality industry. The Gornaya karusel is one of the key pieces of infrastructure for the alpine ski events at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Media village
An Olympic media village is to be delivered by 2013, it will include hotels of three-star category and higher which result in total figures of over 2.150 rooms and on-site facilities: a shopping-cum-entertainment and a sports centre, a water park, tennis courts, restaurants, offices, car parkingss, a clinic, administrative buildings, traffic control centres and so on.
Rosa Khutor
The Project will be realized in close interaction and cooperation with the main partners, Administration of the Krasnodar Region and the City of Sochi and Russian Olympic Committee. The proper Project realization and especially the ecological measures will be put into practice in coordination with the Direction of the State Enterprise Sochi National Park.
The conceptual plan – Master Plan – of the Alpine Ski Resort Rosa Khutor has been developed by a well-known Canadian company Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd.
Once realized the Project, the Resort will reach the capacity for receiving up to 9 500 skiers and snowboarders daily.
Mountain Tourist Centre “Laura” (“Gazprom”)
Modern ski resort “Laura” is situated next to The Grand Hotel Polyana. A high-speed cable car whisks up to 1.200 skiers and snowboarders per hour to the park`s highest point - the Psekhako Plateau at 1.436 metres above sea level. At present, there are eight runs in use, offering 15 km of piste, and five of these are floodlit in the evenings. Guests are transferred from the hotel to the ski lifts by ecologically-friendly vehicles.
In order to accommodate the Winter Olympic Games 2014, an Olympic stadium will be built on the Psekhako Plateau, including all the required levels of infrastructure. Other projects are also under construction.
Ski and Biathlon Complex
Permanent stands designed to seat 4,600 people; temporary stands must be able to seat 11,400 spectators. The main stadium building includes premises under the stands: dressing rooms for sportsmen, commentators’ positions, press office.

The 2nd day, October, 6, began with a greeting of the Italian guests by Sochi Administration officials and members of CCI of Sochi City. Vadim Levchenko, the Chairman of CCI of Sochi City, had the opening speech; he welcomed Italian businessmen and introduced the officials to the guests.
Oleg Yasiuk, the First Deputy Mayor of Sochi, welcomed guests on behalf of Anatoly Pakhomov, the Mayor of Sochi City. Then he mentioned specific features of the city's preparations for the Olympics. At the end of the speech, Mr. Yasiuk wished successful negotiations to the Italian businessmen and promised that the Sochi City Administration would actively promote such cooperation.
After Mr. Yasiuk the word passed to Elena Pakhomova. Ms. Pakhomova is the Chairman of the Charitable Fund “Tsvetik-semitsvetik” and the President of the Women's League “Most Dobra”. She encouraged guests to the cooperation with these organizations as that would strengthen the company's position in the business community of Sochi.
Mr. Mazini finished the greeting; he was very grateful to Mr. Yasjuk, Mr. Levchenko and Ms. Pakhomova for the warm reception which they rendered to the representatives of the Italian companies.

The greeting words were followed by "The Concept of XXII Winter Olympic Games" presentation perfomed by Olga Aliburda, the Head of the Center of Foreign Economic Relations of Sochi CCI.
After that Italian businessmen moved to the Congress Hall where B2B-meetings of Italian and Sochi businessmen took place. B2B-meetings were the core goal of the Mission. Each of the 15 Italian companies has 10 to 18 meetings during that day.
